Been lurking on here for a while but thought I should probably join up.

Been brewing on and off since my Uni days. Recently got things up and running again at the ripe old age of 43, mainly for enjoyment but also the wife has given up work to look after the kids (2 & 4) so want to save a bit of cash.

Got the bug from my Dad (RIP) who had been brewing for as long as I remember, mainly beer, but also did wine sometimes and various hedgerow creations.

Currently only brewing beer kits but would like to venture into extract and eventually all grain brewing one day but time doesn't really allow at the moment.

Got two pressure barrels so always aim to be drinking one beer kit whilst making / fermenting / conditioning another.

Next project is to re-purpose an old fridge I have into a brew fridge having seen a few guides on here and then intend to get another for dispensing.

Happy drinking!

Hi Graz, I'm in Worcester (and I think I've seen one other from Worcester, thought I didn't note the name!).

What part of the county are you in? Once we both have some beer conditioned up it might be worth a meet/swop?

Cheers

Martin

Somewhat surprisingly, the legendary Worcester Hop Shop has recently changed hands and the address can now be found in Staffordshire!

Who would have thought it!

Martin

Wow say it aint so! but yes now that you mention it, the young lady that took my last bulk order online was new and super helpful although she seems to have increased some prices. Maybe Staffordshire is more posh? who can say? The Staffordshire hop shop?? I dunno if it has the same ring to it. Either way, its just next door and will be visited one day! :D

Can just imagine MSK making his pilrimage to worcester. Reverantly stopping along the way at various HBs stores to pay homage eventually getting to his destination to find it's not there

Id just head across to the fabled Timothy Taylor Brewery in West Yorkshire and pay homage there, many friends in Yorkshire I have :D

I was checking and there registered office still seems to be Redditch, is that not in Worcester?

Redditch is in Worcestershire and on the web site it does seem to be the address the business is registered to, however it also says:

Pre arranged collections available from Lichfield depot, please contact via email.

Lichfield is in Staffordshire.

Never heard of the Worcester Hop Shop until now though. Looks useful if I start doing AG.

The one thing actual Worcester is lacking is a Home Brew Shop, at least I've never come across one. Would be useful to have somewhere to get Hambledon Bard CO2 refills, using bulbs at the moment. May get a pub cylinder one day but even then not sure where I could get it filled locally.

Tis a great tragedy! I pictured a little thatched cottage in some English country village with all the family in the fields picking hops and the men slurping gallons of golden ale loading up bags of Marris Otter onto the back of carts pulled by Clydesdale horses! and then I find out that its not even in Worcester but is an office in some busy part of town! Sigh is there no justice!

Perhaps its simply an on-line retailer and we must settle for a cyber idyllic scene :D

I see they have added a new all grain kit, a chocolate orange stout, looks very appealing.

I saw the chocolate orange stout too! Looks interesting.

I used to collect grain kits on the way to work, but when it changed hands it's Litchfield to pick up.

you are correct in that they have a 'registered office' in Redditch.

Graz - a real desert for homebrew shops is Worcester. There's The Wine Emporium in Studley - but they are very pricey. There was Brew Badger in Bromsgrove - but they are mainly kits and restricted opening.

OK, how about a Worcesterhire meet - each bring a couple of examples of our beers.

Back end of January, once we've got over our hangovers.

I reckon that there are a couple of pubs in Worcester who would be happy to accommodate us. Or we could meet elsewhere in the county if that works best for people.

Any takers?
