Hi folks, i'm Steve commonly known as sugar!! its a long story LOL.

I am completely new to all this home brewing but I fancied a go a a spot of home brew wine, I was recommended a small shop not far from where I work called Salford Home Brew, I went and spoke to the owner Paul (a very helpful man) I decided to first go with a 6 bottle Merlot kit, I have just bottled this and I must say I am impressed.

I eventually want to make my own wine from fruit so please be patient I may have a lot of questions to ask!!

Any way that's enough from me now I'll go and have a mooch around this forum

Happy brewing Sugar

I would just like to say thanks for all the replies and I wish all members a very prosperous 2012.

A short up date as to where I am upto:-

I have been mooching around this forum all weekend, everyone seems very helpful. I have just started a 5ltr batch of fiery ginger beer, it seemed a easy starter brew!!, it's bubbling away nicely at the moment. I am still gathering bits and obs together but this site has and is still helping me out with all sorts of answers to my question.

Please keep up the good work.

Sugar.

Hi Dennisking, I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean??? apart from a few spelling errors I cannot see whats wrong with what i have said (please advise what is wrong) I was merely trying to says that I have had a good look around the site and as a novice everyone seems to help each other out.

The bit about the Fiery Ginger Beer was just an update to what i am brewing at the moment, again i cannot see any wrong in mentioning this.

I apologise if I have caused any offence with something, if I have please advise.

The only other thing I can think is that you think my nickname of Sugar sounds wrong! As I said in my welcome note its a long story but completely genuine (although I shouldn't have to explain that).

Completely confused Sugar.

I think he meant saying "hi Sugar" was wrong in a joky sense. :thumb:

Welcome to the forum the what brand was the Merlot you got?

Just branched off from beers to wine myself.

Cheers Mark

Thats it, I'm not used to calling men sugar. We are a friendly lot here and also enjoy a joke and bit of banter.

Thanks Archtronics

I have a Beaverdale Merlot 6 bottle kit, I went for the 6 bottle kit just in case I messed it up on the first go, it proved to be dead straight forward, everything you need (apart from the water of course!!) is in the box, I just followed the instructions to the letter and it turned out a dream, a bit tasteless when first bottled but defo improves with ago and it cleared a treat.

dennisking,

Please accept my sincere apologise's, its a bit of a funny nickname I know but i'm stuck with it, you'll get used to it. I always get funny looks when one of my mates says it lol. I also like a bit of banter, but guess what my surname is Gerrard!!! being a Man Utd supporter (of sorts) and working not far from Old Trafford well you can imagine the stick and questions I get.

I gathered all on here were friendly and very helpful so thats why I was a little confused lol

Steven Gerrard a Man utd fan  i've heard everything now ... no wonder your mates dont call you by your proper name , anyways Welcome Mr Sugar ... would that be Alan by any chance ;)
