Hello there all - just joined today as weill soon be embarking on my ale / lager / cider making adventure.

Had a look through the forum which looks fantastic and read a few of the guides.

I will probably start with the basic kits and if i get a taste for it - which i am sure i will, move onto the more advanced stuff with selecting various hops / yeasts etc to come up with my own concoctions.

I love a good dark real ale such as black sheep, also love stout. The wife likes lager so have promised to make her some if she buys me some kit for xmas.

I love cider too and will move onto this in time but just want to start with the real ales first.

I have ordered CAMRAs guide to real ale making from amazon to get some background info and so that i understand all the strange looking words which i have seen on this site so far - sparge, skunking, mashing etc :wha:

Anyway nice to be here and cant wait to get cracking!!

Welcome aboard

I cant believe the sheer number of new users the forum is getting each day
Could it be the recession hitting home or the threat of minimum alcohol pricing?

Probably quite a lot to do with it although my reasons are purely recreationally motivated, I want to make the best beer i can possibly make, its a good hobby and the fruits of my labour will be there for all to enjoy!!
