Just recently returned to homebrewing (since retirement now have more time!), only brew from modded kits at the mo. All done using Richies Simply beers as the base. Find these very consistant quality, reliable yeast etc. and so easy to tweak into something more "special".Anyone agree or suggest a better and equally competative priced alternative ? aunsure....

I was about the be an all grain snob until I saw they are a tenner. A tenner! I mean .. You'd probably get change out of four quid in grain and you'd not be pushing the boat out with hops and yeast, but yeah ... wow a tenner!

Welcome to the forum.
For kits I tend to stay with a few from Coopers range to play with. I usually avoid 1.5kg kits. Others have their favourites.
Otherwise kit reviews here
