Hi all not sure if this is the correct section bit here it goes

Firstly I'd like to say hi :) my names Jak I've been brewing for a few years now and swmbo has told me I can no longer do it in the kitchen and leave my fv and bottles dotted about the house so shed it is :)

I've got the basics worked out for my shed like a fridge controlled by stc1000 and also a dead fridge with a heat plate in also controlled by an stc1000 for my fermentation chamber.

As it's going to be my little den and also studio as I have plans for a brew tube channel on the journey from kits to AG with interviews and tours arranged with brewery's and fellow brewers I am planning my wiring etc for long term usage,

Because it's a rented property I can't dig the garden up for incoming water mains so my question is this,

If I were to have a stab of copper picking out my shed with a hose pipe quick release on it and when ever I needed it I could in ravel my hose and connect it up in a matter of seconds....would the water be suitable and clean enough to use?

Thanks

Hi
I thought I might move my brewing into a shed (when I have one to brew in, that is :(), so I considered a 'quick fix' water supply. I bought garden hose to build and connect my CFC. Not sure if it's 'cos it's new, or cheap garden centre stuff, but I find it pens. I wouldn't want to put drinking water through it.

Probably better to spend a bit more on food grade stuff - not the soft stuff that kinks easily, but reinforced. Something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Reinforce...aterials_Plumbing_MJ&var=&hash=item338815b8e5

The right diameter will accept garden hose fittings (think it's 1/2" - 12 to 13mm ID), and branded fittings like hozelock should be food safe.

Cheers,
Chris

Yeah that's an idea I suppose because I was considering the possible rubber taste being a gas engineer I've had to bite and suck many garden hoses and they're bloody vile lol I suppose that would tarnish the taste, I suppose if I could get a container to keep the right length in I could always starsan before use, cheers buddy
