Hello Everyone

I have just joined the site after browsing a few times.
I have a basic set up for beer brewing and have tried a beer kit, which seams ok for first go as I am still alive after drinking it.
So I am now looking to the forum for hints and tips to improve my future home brewing efforts.

So I will be posting again soon

Always a good sign :thumb: Welcome to home brewing.

My initial kit didn't have a hydrometer, so I bought one, plus a sample jar and a turkey baster (for taking samples). Oh, and I also bought a bottle capper and a bottle brush; and set about amassing lots of bottles.

Then I thought about water, which makes up most of the beer. Tap water has chlorine which can affect the taste of the beer. I'm currently buying bottled water from the supermarket, but I plan to use camden tablets to remove the chlorine from tap water.

Then I thought about how laborious it is to bottle, so I bought myself a bottle tree and a bottle rinser; and switched to using a no-rinse sanitizer.

A friend has donated his old tray heater, so I can keep the bucket warm in winter.

You can tinker with kits. The easy ones are brewing it "short" (ie using 20L instead of 23L) and using dry malt extract instead of sugar. You can also get premium all-malt beer kits that you don't add sugar too. My first of these should be just about ready to drink . . .

Feel free to ask questions.

M
