Hi all

Just signed up to your forum, can't wait to have a look around.. I started my first 1 gallon batch of mead around 5 weeks ago.. I've never done any home brewing before but I'm now hooked (the meads going well btw ). Today i bought my first glass Demijohn, bungs/airlocks :) so I'm thinking of starting another batch of something real soon :) either more mead or something different any suggestions?

The equipment i have is:

1x glass Demijohn
2x bungs/airlocks
1x vwp steriliser 100g
1x packet of lalvin d47 yeast
1x packet of wilko home brand gervin universal wine yeast
1x wilko home brand yeast nutrient
1x Siphon hose

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Wurzel's Orange Wine is always a big hit, as is Turbo Cider. Check them out in the wine/cider discussion forums. Mead takes some serious ageing apparently, so I'd rack it and forget about it!

Yeah so I've heard I've already racked it and tried alittle at the moment it tastes like strong cider I may rack it again in the future as sediment has formed on the bottom again.. Apparently it should be drinkable around the 6 months old mark who knows lol.. In the mean time I wanna try some more immediate brews :) how long does turbo cider take ? I'm guessing the turbo means either quickly? Or it's stronger than ginger short bloke ! :P

I assume because its very quick and easy to make, but it does take a few months at least. Have a search and you'll find what you're looking for :)

Welcome. : Looking at your equipment list I would get more DJ's. Cheapest option is to use 5lt water containers from supermarkets. Drill a hole in the lid and fit a rubber gromet to seal the airlock. Believe me 1 DJ is not enough. You need at least 2, so you can rack from one to the other
