Hi All,

Can any off your suggest a decent design for a HERMS return manifold - what works for you guys?

Thanks in advance,

John

The worlds your oyster on this one John. Phil uses a h design have a look under mash tun. I use one stainless version of these for both recirc and sparging, I did use the plastic one for a year or so. I've also used a copper design sucessfully, see below.
If you want to use an 'all in one' sparger/return manifold, the holes have to large enough to allow grain pieces to get through. It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day

Any design that
a)covers the majority of the surface area of the mash tun,
b) does not disturb the grain bed
c) does not spray the wort back in & therefore oxidise the wort

Will do the job well.
there is a good one on here http://www.philrobins.org.uk/

Who made that up for you/where did you get the bit's for that mate?

The HERMS side of my setup is being redone after my brewday caper on sunday (as Vossy knows, thanks for the help mate).

Will be switching back to the Totton (RG550 was too much this time round, its suction also clogged up the new hop screen), and going over to silicone tubing, curtesy of Vossy's offer.

I'll be making a new IC too as mine is too small for the 100L boiler.

I have booked next week off work :-)
