Hi just wondering where to position the return flow back into pot after recirc was thinking just to have a tank connector as high as poss hopefully so it be above the wort to reduce chance of leaking but worried about splashing the hot wort around I know after reading the moles website that some say hsa doesn't exist but I just wondered what the Consense was on position and whether the return should be under the wort to stop this? Thanks andy

Put the return as close as possible to the the surface of the mash bed, preferably on it. I'm not a believer in HSA though can see the theory of oxidation. The second important thing about the return is that it should disturb the mash bed as little as possible. Some folk have the return coming in sideways, some have it from above, these pictures should be more explanatory.
My old copper manifold return...gave a lovely gentle return flow, variable in height.

the old copper aerator return, variable in height.

The present return as supplied by eskibrew
