I am new to brewing and I am a complete amateur and it may be normal but I started brewing the Geordie winter warmer kit on Saturday and when I've checked 2day there is some sort of brown skin on the top of my fermenter.

Is this normal or something I should be worried about??

That's fine mate :thumb: Put the lid back on and leave it for a week or so

Welcome to the forum.

That looks pretty healthy. Try to keep the lid on though, when yeast metabolizes sugar it creates alcohol and c02. If you keep the lid on the co2 will form a protective layer on top of your beer/wine and stop infections getting in and developing.

When they are saying leave the lid on, that is sound advice providing the lid has a small hole in it to let the excess gas out - if it doesn't have a hole then do not push the lid tight home all around otherwise the pressure will build and cause a problem :thumb:

It looks great by the way - just the way it is supposed to

Thanks everyone for the advice!! So glad I found this forum!

I pity the people who don't get this goo of advice and screw everything up
