Hi guys

I am about to start brewing a wilko sweet brown ale i bought a few weeks ago.

I want to start experimenting with brew kits and start to eventually move onto more challenging brew and away from kits.

First things first though, baby steps :-)

I want to add some coffee and maybe some vanilla to the brew.

When and how should i add the coffee and vanilla to the kit?

Thanks in advance for the help guys

Normally we add coffee after the boil for around 4 minutes before removing, but as you don't need to boil I would suggest brewing the coffee for around 4 minutes in a cafetierre then adding about 500ml once you've got your kit made up.

With the vanilla, take 2 pods and split them open and add this to the fermenting stage too.

Thanks for the reply.

Do i add the coffee while its hot to the mixture around the same time as the yeast?

Awesome, thanks very much.

Another quick question.

I was gonna add liquorice to a kit.

what type of liquorice should i use and when should i add it?

Sorry no idea on that one! Maybe boil it up as like a tea, leave it to cool and throw it in! No idea how much though!
