You need to be realistic from the start! This is a hobby that you get what u put in. Your best bet is to start small and slim and scale up depending on if u take to it!

My best anology is spaghetti Bolognese. Everyone loves it, u can buy it in a tin at Asda or Heinz or make it yourself with 5% fat or pork+beef mince or fresh herbs or go to Italy! 50p Asda tin isn't gonna taste like it does in an authentic restaurant in Italy but doesn't mean u don't like your wife's/mother's better anyway.

Your not gonna make Stella! At least not to begin with and if u stick with it your gonna realise you prefer other beers/styles that you have made yourself!

I love home brewing, but I have four children that take most of my time and money! I brew beers I can't afford to buy and enjoy the stolen time doing my own thing!

Watching craig looks easy he just made the coopers in 20 minutes. Seems this is the way I will go. Good advice guys. Are the stick on temperature strips ok or is it best to use another method? What temperature does it need to stay at? The sanitiser is £5 for 100ml can anyone recommend any cheaper anywhere?

What sanitiser you looking at? Yeah it doable like Craig! Stick on are fine.

Nope, genuinely have never come across it.

Chemsan is good for 1.5 ml per litre of water...you just need to slosh all your gear in a bucket of the stuff then drain so a few litres is cheap and easy.

Drink far more than I should probably 15-20 pints a week of stella spending about £30 a week I am a home drinker only. Hopefully this will save me a lot of cash in the current climate I need to save money

Start drinking outside the box as the world of homebrew will certainly open your taste buds and let you realise there is a whole better world of beer out there.
£30 a week can be quite a few quid for some but if your looking to replicate your Stella on starter kits forget about it as with lagers and such you'll need temperature control.
You could try this as all you will need is beer bottles preferably brown as everything else comes with the kit and there is 5% off in the sponsor forum cheatsheet.

I have brewed lots of the Lager kit you are having a go at, its ok if you ignore the instructions and as others have said follow the 2+2+2 method, and always got far better results bottling rather than a Pressure Barrel, but again as others have said it wont taste like stellar, the kits The range sell are good value, Im a convicted Lager Lover, but just done their IPA kit and it was amazing and its easy to do.

You have probably done the best thing you will ever do in your brewing experiment by joining this brillian forum, a massive knowledge base with no keyboard warriors, and the only daft question is the one you dont ask.
