Done - sounds lovely, especially if you could manage to have separate areas for people who like to stay up late and chat round a camp-fire away from those who like bed at 9pm and up at sparrow-fart to go rambling - always seems to be the bane of many a camp site not being able to cater for both chronotypes.
Oh, and hammocks. Hammocks would be ace!

Agreed, one persons idea of camping isn't anothers.

You forgot to add kids to that, why is it your neighbours kids like playing football right next to your tent when there's 2 acres of field to go and run about on.
Earplugs are the way to go when camping on busy family sites.

I tend to avoid family sites, that tends to mean the facilities are a lot more basic.
I do like to sit round a fire in the evening with a beer or two, and a few friends.

Me too; the good news is that there are many more of them now than there used to be, and many that offer fire-pits, composting toilets and all those sort of things too.

I've sought out quite a few of these sites in Devon and there are many more I need to visit, but an idea for the website would be to have 2 or 3 lists of recommended sites that cater for the different requirements. The good thing is that the idea seems to appeal to a fairly wide demographic and that means that there are different requirements for different guests.

I want to thank all of you that have taken the survey. Since I posted it up I've had 90 respondants, with a large number from THBF. It's a testiment to how awesome, helpful and friendly you lot are.

I owe you all a beer; I just have to brew some first as I'm all out!

Sounds like a glamping, well a bit like glamping :)

You should appeal to ex campers and families who are a bit short of cash.

Have you thought about contacting the camping and caravanning club? Get them to do a bit of an editorial on the idea in the monthly magazine, wouldn't do you any harm :)

If you're making moeny on the hamper and barbie hire, then that might be something to offer through the clubs as well, local organic goodies delivered to your campsite along with the barbie to cook them on. No need to put the weight into the 'van or car just for one or two night's use :)

Done. This is a great idea, although is very reminiscent of the Eurocamp holidays we used to take to France in my childhood. I know that the main appeal for my parents was the value for money; for parents of 2 kids surviving on one salary Eurocamp was the only option they could afford. So value for money is imperative for the family market. To be honest, if I could get a holiday cottage cheaper I would probably go for that, as it offers the chance to allow our small children to sleep at night without being disturbed by the adults who don't want to have to be quiet from 7pm because the children are just a piece of canvas away. At least if they have a bedroom in a house then there is some noise insulation! (not saying that we are rowdy, just don't want to have to talk in hushed tones!!)

But I do believe those holidays set up a love of camping in me and I would want to instill that in my kids, so I await further development on this with interest!!

Done.

Did anyone else tick the hamper of local beer option?
Given the nature of the sight there may be a slight skew....
