Help, have i messed up my first attempt?

hi I put on a larger kit on tuesday and followed all the instructions, My air lock has be bubbling for a couple of days now but it has slowed down alot maybe 1 bubble every couple of mins now.

Is this normal its a 7 day kit i have wrapped it up and have a warmer under it and its at 22-24 deg. I tested it today and there are still bubbles coming up from it and it showed in the middle of beer section on the meter. My 14 day wine is at the side of it and that constant bubbles.

any help would be great.

Thanks :drink:

That seems fairly normal to me, SG is more important than the flow through the air lock and for a few quid are well worth the investment.

Yes, that seems fairly normal, I would test the Gravity with a hydrometer, never rely on the number of days the instructions say.

If anything you might want to think about reducing the temperature a bit, 18 - 20 C is probably closer to where you should be, I am assuming it is using an Ale yeast which is most likely, not a Lager yeast.

A lager yeast would want to be at 12 - 15 C to ferment.

thanks, i have had a look at a few other post and I feel a little better already, Think I could do a ginger beer next, I will test again in a few days

Whats SG the floating meter thing?

yes, it looks like it could be a little high on temp as well, will give it a go.

Thanks

well a quick stir and a couple of days and its dropped now, I have just moved it to a conditioning DJ for a day or two then I will be adding the finnings and some special type of sugar I got from the homebrew shop, to make it fizzy when bottled.

Oh by the way I have also put on some WOW and TC, just a couple of small ones to see how it taste :thumb:

looking forward to drinking it now :drink:
