one thing to watch out for fitting electric elements especially those designed for kitchen kettle use is that they are generally designed to fit either a thin SS kettle wall or a thicker more substantial synthetic body wall. if fitting a thin skined element into a thicker plastic wall you may discover the connecting screws cant bridge the extra mm or so gap to bite.. new screws or a little mod of the sealing gasket can generally sort this out.
Conversely if fitting a thicker walled type element into a thin skinned SS pot, the securing screws can bottom out before providing sufficient pressure to make a good seal, again not a major gotcha as a wee session with a file can reduce the screws a mm or so if replacements cant be found. But over tightening screws can result in a fractured housing if not aware..
