Good Afternoon,

I’m Ashley and live just outside London. I am totally new to home brewing and will be starting a MYO stout kit this weekend that I was brought as a gift last year. For now I am looking at trying out a range of kits and brewing and bottling these for a while... it may lead to making my own from total scratch but we will see....

All the best everyone.
Ash

Welcome Ash! Loads of info on here on the kits. I've learned a lot in the year or so of being a member.

I've made the MYO Irish Stout before - exactly to instructions and it was a success. It went down well with friends and family too. I've brewed a second batch of it since, but pimped it up with lactose, coffee and molasses. The bottles will be ready for first tasting next weekend. Can't wait!

That sounds good, I like a coffee or chocolate stout. Hope it turns out well.

Welcome, Ashley. First piece of advice: as soon as your fermenting vessel is free, get another kit on. Then another. Beer takes ages to condition in the bottle and having a lot gives some of them chance to be ready before you drink them.

I was thinking about getting this stout done then getting a Mexican cervesa brewed up for the summer BBQ’s.

Welcome. I just started back in December. Enjoy the brewing, nothing like drinking your own beer. I’m building up a stash now. My first 2 brews turned out great. Now I’m going to wait until May, let my current brews condition and mature a little, and then enjoy them.

Slippery slope...UPwards!!! Seriously, enjoy the journey- and the end result of your labours!!!
