Hi, all! I was googling nettle beer recipes and decided to log on here and ask a question..... anyway, hi from Shirley in the London Borough of Croydon!

Fed up with the price of beers and wines these days, I've been making (trying to make) country wines using Ian Ball's book Wine Making the Natural Way for a year, trying to do it the chemical-free way, mostly with foraged ingredients. With six or seven demijohns maturing away, I'm now thinking of branching out into beers, having been bought the River Cottage Booze book by the wife. Looking forward to learning more from this forum's learned members. Cheers - Steve.

Steve welcome aboard.

I think you will have a whale of a time. Only tip I can give you is store your first few outside, a sweet foamy fountain cannoning across the kitchen can put you right off this hobby 👍

Ask away..

Ps Saw what you did there. Please tell me your surname is Crabtree or does the internet now have a broadband link to the other side now 🤣🤣

Ha-ha, wine seems much easier judging by the beer instructions. Ta for the tip, MashBag. Surname is not Crabtree, no, just a silly tribute to the Big Man, now I find myself in a place called Shirley.

I still make wine, but only once a year. Beer is easy if you choose to make it so. But thats a rare trait round here 🤣🤣🤣
