Getting back into brewing after many years off. Making some Apple wine along with some Elderberry. Drinking my first attempts of larger from a kit. Tastes ok, bubbles and is clear, but has a very slight yeast taste. Any tips for preventing this in the future.

welcome to the forum....give it longer in the bucket and longer in the bottle.....Shimples !

I'm just up the road from you in Maltby, I visit Retford often, love the area.

Awesome, I'm over in mansfield or nottingham. I'd suggest in bigger equipment to brew 'larger beer'

However to remove a yeasty taste from lager, wait until its clear in the FV, then syphon to a 'bottling bucket' (a fermenter with a tap) leaving the sediment (called trub, which is mainly dead yeast) behind. Less yeast going into the bottles means less yeasty flavour in your beer.

Keeping it in the cold for a month or two is also good, the yeast in the bottle will compact down to the bottom. To be extra safe, leave a little beer in the bottom of the bottle when pouring.
