Hi everyone

I've just registered with the forum so thought I would say hello. I've joined to find out more about techniques and to get advice, share info etc. rather than just searching online when I have an issue.

I'm new to home brewing, as my wife bought me a kit for my birthday in May (Youngs Red India Ale) which I brewed the following month and have just finished off. It didn't turn out too bad, but did have the slight appley taste which I've heard so much about when randomly searching online for advice. I've now started my second kit (Youngs American IPA) on Thursday and hopefully it will turn out better, as I'm taking some steps to regulate the fermentation temperature in room.

I'm going to continue with kits until I've got my head around the techniques so will be reading lots of threads over the coming months, then I hope to me moving to all grain brewing in my garage once I've got the equipment and know a little more about what I'm doing!

Welcome to the forum ninja. It won't be long till your all grain. I only did two kits then went biab. Three brews later three vessel. Not looked back since, what you can make knocks the socks off anything you can buy within reason.

Welcome! You're one brew ahead of me. I'm planning to start my first brew this week, Youngs American IPA. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks everyone. Stigman - what's biab?

Brew In A Bag

Basically a one pot method for mashing and boiling. You heat up you water in a suitably sized pot / boiler to mash temperature then add you grain to a large mesh bag that you've lined the pot with. After mashing you draw up the top of the bag and lift out the grain. You can then optionally sparge by one or two methods. Then in the same pot boil up the wort adding hops at whatever intervals you desire.
