Hi All,

Been brewing wine for quite a while with limited success but wanted to give cider and ginger beer a go and a Google search brought me here. Usually more of a car nut (hence the username) but after a hard day twirling spanners and engine computers it's nice to sit back with the other fruit of one's labour.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum.

I have a Saab too although I leave all of the technical stuff to the professionals.

Wow, what a flurry of responses. Thanks very much.

Just written down the fiery ginger beer recipe and firing up the cooker as i speak. No.2 Son got me a load of root ginger for free and it just seemed rude not to.
Unfortunately i only appear to have some Gervin GV4(26) yeast in stock so i'll just have to use that and keep adding sugar until it stops fermenting.
Should be an interesting taster session if nothing else.

Cheers again.

Hi and welcome!

Where abouts in Nottingham are you from?
Long Eaton.

Can i ask you, when you prepped your fiery ginger beer did it taste gingery straight away? Or did the fire develop during brewing? Mine seems to be quite watery even though i used 1.1kg of grated root ginger and quite a few tsp of ground ginger.

Maybe i should ask in the thread?

Indeed it is. Long time since i've been in though. Last years crop of fruit was almost a non-starter compared to other years so i've not had to stock up with stuff.

I go there quite a bit although their hops and grains prices are shockingly high so dont get them from there. Aside from that very friendly :thumb:
