Hi there,
I'm just getting back to brewing after a bit of a break (aren't kids great). Moved from Sheffield to Blackpool a year ago and only managed 1 brew so far but split it into 2 beers; a big 8%ish stout, one infused with black peppercorns and the other has fruits of the forest and winter mulling spices. For my first effort in over a year I'm happy with both so looking forward to a packed brew schedule for next year and upgrading my brewkit.

Hi and welcome. I'm in Blackpool too. How do you find the water for brewing? :hmm:

Only done the one so far and didn;t check it at all. In fact, I've not worried about water yet but it's on my list of things to improve my knowledge of.

What are your thoughts on the water here?

@leemond Just seen on another post that you're a Boro lad. I'm a Boro supporter from Billingham originally. Small world and all that.

ive been trying to use bottled water but almost always ended up using some from the tap. In all my brews there has always been a slight similar flavour at some point of the tasting process. I tried my mate's extract brew recently and his also had it, albeit slightly less noticeable. It's not bad it just detracts from the differences in flavour I am going for. I now don't know if it's the local water or something else I am doing wrong in the process. I read earlier tonight it could be due to pitching yeast at too higher temperature :hmm:

All the best with your Blackpool Brews! :thumb:

@GoffGoffson if you're on Facebook search "Fylde Coast Boro Supporters Club" - massively small world! UTB!!!

Welcome from an even less sunny Manchester.
As to water, is it soft like ours here?
Cheers

United Utilities refer to the current condition of the water in my postcode area as 'Slightly Hard'. I've not yet looked into water conditioning too much as from what I've read it can be quite involved!
