This place was recommended to me by a far more experienced brewer than I. He does crazy stuff with a microbrewery of sorts!

I've just returned to brewing after a break of probably 25 years, and must admit things have moved on a LONG way since my last experiences of Boots beer kits, which frankly almost made me consider drinking Coke instead!

I bought a Woodfordes Wherry starter kit, which is now depleted to the tune of about 10 pints, and it compares with pub beer! My wife is now sick of me going on about how the head stays on the beer for the whole of the pint etc etc.

I've just received another Woodfordes kit, the Pale Ale, which I'll be starting tomorrow when I've been up to the spring to collect water.

Yep, I'm lucky enough to live a mile away from one of the Malvern Hills Springs, used by the Malvern Hills Brewery in their rather good beers, so I use that water and if the taste of my Wherry is anything to go by, its a good choice!

Anyway - off to have a read on using things like honey and other stuff to perhaps add a twist to my beers!

Cheers folks! :drink:

Hey and welcome, we live pretty local, im from hereford.

Often go to malvern, has probably the best wetherspoon's in the area.

worth a go at extracting elderflower and northern brewer hops and adding it to the brew if you like an extra hoppy summery flavor

Welcome to the forum, do search for "dry hopping" definately the easiest way to "twist" a kit :thumb:

Mildman, try the Nags Head at the other end of Malvern. FAR better than the Wetherspoons, and you can get served in less than 15 mins! We'll be coming to the Hereford fest in July, I expect you know that one!

Wez, thanks for the tips on dry hopping. The Pale is on the go now so I'll try to get some for that.

Ill have to try that 1 next time im there. I had noticed at the spoons I went to the beers were a lot nicer than the 1's here. Simply because hereford spoons always has dodgy pints. The type where the bar staff says "ahh nope its not clearing properly, so you cant have it" then every other ale tastes offish, usually really sour.

Excellent yea I know it, been going for last 3 years, such a good selection of ales there as well.

Theres another festival around the ford this weekend as well (well from tonight to monday) at "the bridge inn" down kenchurch (on abergavenny road past pontrilas), 20 or so ales there, down by the monnow :D
