Hi all!
My name's Basil, I stumbled across this site looking for some hints on lagering and it seems quite good. Thought I'd better join so I can contribute, I've got quite a bit of experience so hopefully will have something useful to add.
I've been brewing since I was 14, used to make all manner of beers, wines, ciders, meads... My parents cellar is still rammed with lovely (and now well matured) country wines, meads and barleywines. At one point I did all grain brewing, I worked for a microbrewery so could get the grain really cheap.
Now 29, still make my own beer, but have been too busy with work and study to do all grain - for a while I was making kits again, but now doing extract brews, seems the best balance between easy and tasty. Anyway, recently a few friends have been learning to brew, and teaching them has got me all enthused again, so I've dug out some demijohns and got some wines and meads on the go! I've also been having a go at something completely new - lager. This hobby certainly has some mileage if you can do it for so long and still have new adventures waiting for you. One day I'll get round to doing a sparkling mead a la methode champenoise...
Anyway, that's me.
