Hi guys. I've been dabbling with brewing for a few years but was mainly using kits (3for2 wine kits from morrisons initially). Birthday 2019 the kids bought me a book called Brew it yourself and I was off. Started with a couple of meads, one of which was nice and one of which was like paint stripper both of which were prohibitively expensive to make. Lockdown 2020 lit a fire. The dining room looked like breaking bad. The plan is to make a couple of batches a month and after fermentation/aging hopefully have wine ready every month this year. Cracked open the first rhubarb wines last week and was very pleased with the result.
Cheers folks

Welcome. I’m only starting out. 2 beers done. I’m drinking my first one which is great. I’ll be moving the second brew in bottles down to the garage tomorrow. I also have my first wine which I’m going to be bottling this weekend.

Another warm welcome and that's quite an ambitious schedule of manufacture you have laid out there. I'm a fan of mead making but it's something of a long game and as you say very expensive. If you can buy local unfiltered honey then in my view it makes all the difference, it does put the cost up even further but if you are going to wait 6 months for something to mature then you might as well do so with good ingredients. As for batches of wine, if you do get the opportunity to brew in 5 gallon batches it makes the whole experience a lot simpler.
