Hi,
just a quick hello - I am not new to homebrew but just recently I collected the bits and pieces together from various draws and corners......
Last night I started 20 pints of Muntons Old Conkerwood Black Ale - the BBE was marked as June 2006! Chucked out the yeast and used one which was BBE November 2010 so shouldn't be a problem - this morning it was already showing a uniform froth cover, not a lot but it's on the way. Next, sorting out the bottles, again got enough from years ago.
Also last night, uncovered three bottles of "Pineapple Lager" which I must have done about 2004 !!! Had a half litre, good fizz and alcohol content, a hint of fruity taste - I am pleased!
Also uncovered a bottle of wine, I could just make out the label "Sherry" - again good alcohol and acid taste. So must have done it right at the time, maybe about 2003 ???
For total newcomers I recommend "Read AND follow the instructions" and "Good Standard of Cleanliness" - the yeast will do the rest!
