Hi . .

I have a richie products ferment bin with a (purpose built) heater element inside
And exposed.

My question is.... if I use it to boil up wort.... can I also use it to ferment?
It has a lid with a hole for airlock, but I cannot find any real info on it.

Cheers and Good Elf!

Interesting. The only real issue is when the element fires, it’ll go real hot real fast possibly causing damage to the yeast. The FV only needs a small amount of warmth.

I think they just use the standard bins to convert to boilers, I wouldn’t use it to ferment in

Ahh I See .. I wonder if I could throttle back the heater a bit. I'm presuming the temp setting is a simple on / off cut out ... not sure how this type of element works.

I don’t think the direct heat would be a great idea, I’d imagine it would create hotspots. A lot of people use a builders bucket with a fish tank heater which works very well

Thanks for the advice ! ... What ive done is gone and bought an invention that didnt really need to be invented! Isnt it! :-)
