For what it's worth - we just got fitted with a smart meter so last time I did a brew I switched everything else off so I could measure how much a brew was costing me. Worked out at £1.30 for a 23L brew.

Very interesting experiment. Great post as this is something I never could be bothered to do myself, yet makes be better informed.

Would this include water? I would expect not, since the majority of household properties are not metered.
