I'm thinking of buying a HD freesat receiver. I have a sky box, (not subscribed) and a working dish, and a HD plasma screen. What would you guys recommend/avoid?
Any help much appreciated :thumb:

if you have a un-subscribed skybox then you can get all the channels on freestat. In my opinion HD isnt worth paying the extra money for.

Why is that, is the picture quality not that much better davesiv?

 that suprises me!

HD quality is much better :wha: some people have described the difference as the same jump as going from B&W to colour.

We have a 50" HD Plasma TV. When i first brought it we had the normal sky box. A couple of weeks ago i upgraded my sky to Sky HD. And there is very little difference between the two.
If thak makes sence.

edit- Wez your right the picture is good if you have a HD TV, but what im saying is its not worth V1 getting a HD freesat receiver.

That really surprises me, are you using a HDMI connector between the 2?

Have found massive improvement in picture quality between normal TV and HD TV, But it's all down to the TV if the settings aren't right you'll get crap picture and also the qaulity of the TV it needs to be full 1080i, have resolution of 1920x 1080 and have a Dynamic contrast ratio of at least 10,000-1 if not higher, can you up to 100,000.

Ok there is i difference in picture quality but not in opinion that much.

I don't understand why it's not worth him getting the HD FreeSat box? He will get HD tv then.... Won't he? And as MD has pointed out the difference in quality is significant.. Have I missed something?

most HD TV's come with built in free view, and as V1 stated he already as a HD tv and sky box so i recon its pointless going out and spending good money on a freesat box just to recieve the same channels that he can already get.

oh I read it that he has a HD tv but isn't currently getting a HD signal? So he's thinking of getting the HD FreeSat box? I must have got that wrong. :wha:
