Hi there. I'm new to brewing and have just started my second brew of coopers English bitter. I read the instructions and added 500g or beer enhancer but after adding the rest of the water and yeast I remember reading on a few forums that folks add 1k. I panicked and added the rest of the sugar now the brew is just sat doin nothing. Have I messed it up. Any help would be greatful. :drink:

so what was your total amount of sugars (beer enhancers/brewing sugars ordinary sugars ) that you added to the kit. and what amount did you make the kit up to ( water wise )...

yep need to know the length of time is doing nothing- some beers take a gd 24-48 hours to look busy (only if u have a well sealed fv and airlock can u tell anything if happening before then-even then is a bit hit or miss

23l of water and 1kg of muntons beer enhancer. I added half enhancer then water and yeast and poped the lid on then decided to add the other half i.e 500g and gave it a quick stir. It's only been sat for 12 hrs do that maybe why it's not doin much. When I opened to add the rest of the enhancer it looked like stuff was happening but now nothing.

well a kg of sugar plus 1 can kit made up to 23 litres is about right. Keep your temps around 21-21C and it should start ok, may take a day or two.
If concerned at the end of today give it a gentle stir ( no splashing ) but keep the temp stable.

Cheers. It's in the airing cupboard but we don't have the heating on all day but it's not too cold in ther anyway. My main concern was adding more enhancer after the yeast. Iv seen that people added more during fermentation of cider but not beer.

Adding extra fermentable stuff after the yeast is fine. Generally not what we do but you'll suffer no ill effects.

You should start to see things happening soon. Relax, all will be fine. You will have beer... :thumb:

No action so gave a gentle stir 3 hrs ago. Just did hydrometer reading and the gravity has gone up from 1034 to 1040. No foam or bubbles in FV.
