Hi all

Im paul, i have dabbled with homebrew lager & wine a few times, and was wondering if anyone has any recepies to make butterbeer (alcoholic) from the harry potter movies, as i am holding a harry potter themed party soon, i have searched the net, but cant find any good recepies out there, apart from non-alcoholic versions.

would anyone know if i could ferment this
1 cup light or dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
3/4 cup heavy cream, divided
1/2 teaspoon rum extract
Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda
2 tablespoons water
6 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda

hmmm
leave out the cream

and the butter

and the vinegar

and the cream soda (all 8 of them) if it has any preservatives. That leaves you with water, salt & sugar. I'd probably leave the salt out too.

That'll work, but it will taste horrible.

brew beer instead ;)

I've had buttered rum - and that was nice. I guess you could then add hops and more liquid, and re-ferment,... possibly.... not sure how that would turn out though.

Why not just mix the above together and lively it up with a bit of vodka or butterscotch liquer? I know that's more of a cocktail than homebrew recipe but hey-ho.

Also have you tried googling "tudor butterbeer" for an authentic butter beer recipe? Then you could brew up some proper beer to make it...

3/4 cup of heavy cream, divided? Does that mean separated?

seriously though, this must be someone joking about :D

I read that's the recipe they use for ButterBeer at the new Wizarding World at Universal studios Orlando....By all accounts very nice, maybe tell you better next year
Think I'd go with AG's recommendation and just add vodka or maybe white rum
