Hi

Just started a Geordie Bitter Kit and used enhancer instead of sugar.

When I dissolved the wort and enhancer in hot water, hard, white, sticky lumps appeared and didn't seem to dissolve.

I've never used enhancer before (normally just sugar)- Is this normal?

Reassurance required????

enhancer has spray malt in it and it can be a git to dissolve there are numerous posts with advice on how best to disolve it, I find disolving in tepid water by adding it slowly and stirring like crazy so it does not clump works best for me. Hot water disolves it better but the steam clumps the stuff in the packet. Never add water to the spray malt always the other way, sprinkle and stir sprinkle and stir.

I use Dry Malt Extract only for my yeast starters.

I add my required weight of malt to my pot, then add cold water.
I walk a way for about 30 minutes, by which time it has dissolved by itself.

If there is any not dissolved, it's easy to give it a bit of a stir as I heat the pot.
