I'm a lapsed homebrewer, but now returning to the fold. My previous experience has been exclusively beer kits, so I won't be jumping headlong into the 'Full Mash' route, but instead, mixing grains with dry extract etc.
My guide is a newly arrived paperback by Graham Wheeler, so there'll be loadsa questions, so bear with me.
My other hobbies are bread making, coffee roasting and veg gardening - I have an allotment, conveniently situated rear of my house. I enjoy brewing elderberry, there's a couple of gallons bubbling next to my earhole, as I type. Last spring, I planted a dozen+ elderberry bushes (got from a hedging company) but they're struggling.

Thanks BB and SB. I've got some starter nicely on the go - 250g of dried malt extract, inoculated with Gervin English Ale yeast. I've got some queries, so I'll zoom over to the appropriate forum.

Welcome to the forum :drink:

Bet you're glad the silly season is over and the roads are getting back to normal ;)

Nah it's been a bit quiet down here. The third consecutive wet Summer, has persuaded folk to throw up in Benedorm instead.
On a lighter note, I popped into a local charity shop lunchtime and scored two 1 pint beer glasses at 10p each. One was the chunky type, the other had "2008 Beer Festival upsu" etched on the front. Apparantly upsu stands for University Plymouth Students Union. In my day, you'd be forced to write upsu in capitals .... hurumph

Hello! A coffee loving brewer in Cornwall! Me too.

Hello micmacmoc I was at a carboot sale yesterday and nearly purchased a Boots Wine and Beer Heater/Stat for £2. Later when I passed the stall again, it had been sold  The moral: strike while the iron is hot.
Years ago I had one of those 5 gallon DJ's which had a fishtank heater/stat, suspended midway. I left it behind during a house move. The buyer showed an interest in it, for use as an indoor garden
