Half An Ionian Ale

Was going to do Castle Eden Ale but not enough torrified wheat. I settled for M O's Ionian Ale without additions.

Mashed indoors and sparged in the garage, 4C ambient, ended up with 32L pre boil wort which I shall boil up tomorrow.

Second part Ionian Ale started to boil at midday. Still cold outside with a slight covering of snow.

I'm hoping to do a split brewday next week, any noticable difference?

I'll get the target pre boil volume into the boiler on day 1 then boil on day 2.

Wez it seemed easier doing it this way particularly when going for 90 min mash and boil times.
Also it made the best use of daylight and I haven't had to clean up in the dark. Might be what I do all the time if it turns out OK

Finished at 15.00 with 23l @ 1046

I think i'll be doing this with an Oatmeal Stout over Tue / Wed evenings. I might also get a brew in on Friday night / Sat AM also :hmm:

I like the split brewday thing. Especially now cos it's too hot in the day for brewing. :party: So it's nice to brew in the evening when it's a bit cooler in the Brewery.
