Greetings from West Dorset

Hello everyone - my name's Dave and I have been a sporadic home brewer for the past 20 years. I know my end product can be better because I've tasted home brew from a tin that is better to drink than the ale in some of the pubs down here! However the secret and losing that 'home brew' tang still escapes me - I hope the forum will help me brew better beer. I prefer darker brews - porters, stouts, milds but when in a pub generally go for a best bitter unless something unusual is 'on'.

If you want a beer without the homebrew twang then try a designer brew or malt extract or go for it and try all grain
