I've been several years, and might go again this year.
average price, if I recall correctly, a pint is usually around £3 (give or take 50p)
they sell it in thirds, halfs, and pints.
price of beer differs depending on strength, and other factors.
all the cider is priced on strength - the stronger it is, the more expensive.
The wife seems to be ok with the idea since it would give her an excuse to visit her cousin in London. I'm going to wait for the list of brewers to be published & see what the budget is like.
It's all cask ale right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this means that there won't be any high gravity beers there like imperial stouts or barley wines, right?
Don't discount stronger beers. Last year's CBOB (Champion Bear of Britain), which is announced on the Tuesday afternoon, went to a barley wine (Coniston number 9), and there were a number of stronger cask beers there. Stand outs for me were a Fuller's brewers reserve aged in armagnac casks at 8.5%, and Greene King 5X at 12%. But expect to pay more for these
Top tip from my last trip to the GBBF: I got a pint glass (marked for halfs and thirds) and asked for thirds so I could try out more variety. A third looks so small in the big glass that they people serving made sure they poured above the line.
