I've been using my GF for a few years now with no real issues but have been thinking about upgrading to the connect unit. Has anyone changed their unit to this and is it worth the extra £109

I changed mine, the auto power throttling and bluetooth is nice to have but it isn't essential.

The one major gripe i have with the connect box is the power socket into the bottom of it, if you happen to catch the power lead at all with your foot then you risk ripping the socket out of the bottom of the box, the internal connections are simple spade connectors and these can then come undone risking a loss of power. The socket itself is just held in place by a couple of lightweight plastic clips and will not withstand any abuse. Keep your old controller handy if you do decide to go to the new one, if you buy thru the grainfather website you get an extra years warranty.

Knowing what you know now.would you buy again?

Edging at a yes, TBH the function I find most useful is the timer to start it heating. Just set temp and timer and it will be up to temp for you.

I agree. Being able to set it up the night before and having it ready to mash in as soon as you’re up in the morning is a big plus.
