Yesterday was the 3rd time using my new Grainfather and the 1st time I've had a complete brewing failure. I failed so badly that I didn't get any wort into the fermenter.
All was going well, a slightly stuck sparge but that was sorted, until I got to the aroma stand at the end of the boil.
I thought it would be a good idea to recirculate the work through the chiller (as I did to sanitise it) and run it through the hop spider to get better wort to hop infusion. All looked good so I went back to the other room while I waited for the 20 minutes to finish.
When the alarm went off I returned to the kithen; it took me a few seconds to work out what I was looking at....it was a huge puddle of sweet brown wort all over the floor! The chiller tube at fallen out of the of the lid and was pumping the work striaght onto the floor.
So 4 hours of brewing, 1 hour of cleaning and no beer to show for it!
The bright side is that iat least it wasn't an equipment fail only a user failure (I'm used to those). You better believe that next time I'm going to sit staring at it for the entire brew!
I also forgot to rehydrate my yeast so at least I didn't waste that.
