Did this today :

4.5kg pilsner malt
60g Saaz @ 60 min
60g Saaz @ 30 min
60g Saaz at 0 min
CML Kolsch yeast

65C mash for 75 min
90 min boil

now lets just hope the weather stays cool enough

Looks like a good recipe, do keep us updated with how it turns out. How long is the turn around for a kolsch like this?

I don't think I've ever made a proper smash before. The closest I've come is a chilli saison which used lager malt, summit hops and saison yeast, but also a lot of chilli powder. I need to make one one day.

A pilsner by any other name? I tried saaz for the first time a few weeks ago after I used it in a reciepe I nicked off of jceg316 and tweeked a bit. I really liked it. I'm going to have to do something similar but I think I'll wait till at least autumn for the weather to cool down. Then I can use my brew bag to do a pseudo lager

Looks a nice recipe. Where does the IBU total come out?

I'm pretty new to kolsch but the ones iv done so far have been great after about 4 weeks and a week or two in the fridge

According to beersmith the IBU is 55
its a brewdog copy of avery brown dredge, as in the hop profile only, not the malt and the brewdog info sheet stated 59 IBU's so i'm about right

Not a beer I've ever had. It'll be interesting to hear how it comes out, that's a lot of IBU for what is basically a pilsener, and will be interesting to hear how Saaz presents at that level of bitterness too, I've used it previously but only in much more lowly hopped beers.

The malt profile for this beer is meant to be much heavier I think around 7kg of pilsner malt, its described as an imperial pilsner to that end.
As hops go Saaz is pretty cheap so if its any good then it may be a brew again beer. Here's hoping
