Someone on here used the words "Critical Mass" regards to brewing and that struck a chord with me, since I never seem to have enough ale to sup. So this week Ive brewed:-

CHTCH - 20 L
US STEAM BEER - 23 L
EKG SMASH - 10 L
CHINOOK SMASH - 10 L
GHOST SHIP CLONE - 5L

Ran out of fermenting vessels so used a bird fatball bucket!!

If this lot doesn't see me through the summer, nothing will. Just need to keep on top of things and hopefully brew as required to keep stocks up.

Good work!

I find that when I'm running low, I brew like mad to get the stocks up but almost as soon as I rest on my laurels the stocks start to dwindle again and repeat.

That reminds me, I need to get another brew on soon.

I've also found that 5L water bottles work well as emergency fermenters. They also come with a nice volume of useable brewing water included in the deal!

Indeed they do. Going to make some ginger beer in those!!

I admire your endeavour. I also reads that thread and got pretty worried that I don't have enough to get through the summer which normally includes a BBQ party or two at our house and a big weekend with family and friends where I normally take beer. Absolutely no way I would ever bother to brew five beers in a week though, which is mainly why I admire you. I've got 30L of FV capacity with nothing in it and 25L waiting to be bottled, really need to get myself in gear!

Wouldn't chance using a fat ball bucket as I'm fairly sure its not food grade plastic

That worried me but there was nothing on the label to say it wasn't....a risk with taking....who knows. Will transfer asap though

I checked the fat ball bucket in the shed last week and was food grade. Had set it aside for a 10 l fv.

I always seem to be reasonably well stocked. Probably got around 20 bottles of Belgian Pale left, 34ish of my German Pils and maybe 8 Imperial Stout.

Currently fermenting another 38ish bottles of Bitter. I can't get through it fast enough! I do bottle swaps with my neighbour but that doesn't help at all!

If any of you live within an hour of me and fancy a few bottles, you're more than welcome.

I think I need to make smaller batches!

Every time i read fat ball bucket i think of Viz.

Ha....just a leap of faith on my part. For a 5L brew they seem ideal, but 10L is a bit tight. Ive got loads, so maybe try some fruity brews. Onwards and upwards as they say.

I'm just starting and this is very much my aim. It just seems to take so long when you have my patience. Gives me more time to empty bottles I suppose. I've got the kits and now need to have 2 30L FVs running solid for the next few months. Looking forward to when it's do e and I can start experimenting with process that take longer, like racking to a second bucket and brewing some Belgium style beers and letting them condition for 6 months.

Drink more. I think the answer is definitely drink more.

I reached critical mass a while back and I've been brewing since last summer I think. I do tend to get through about a dozen bottles a week and I probably bottle two brews a month maybe slightly more. Currently got bottled roughly half a batch worth of bitter, pils, stout, aipa, 3 Belgians, a full batch of RIS, a fourth Belgian, then there's a Cwtch to bottle this weekend and a black IPA in another fermenter. I'll put a brew on this weekend too, as long as there's empties there's a brew on, and there's always empties! Good to have a selection to choose from I say.
I use a 20litre koi food bucket for small batches, I was a bit concerned first time because the food smells really strong but it was fine, nothing fishy going on at all.
