I haven't brewed (I do AG brews) for a few months - time pressures, so this thread piqued my interest.
I'm looking to brew a kit short so that I can put in a 19L corny
I have a few questions
1. I do not like hoppy ales, and I understand that brewing a short may increase the bitterness. I like beers at the maltier end but I'm not looking to brew a stout. I guess I'd be looking for a malty bitter / ale type thing or a Belgian brew. Give me your kit recommendations in this range if you have them please.
2. I only have a 15L FV. Can I brew/ferment to 15L then liquor back into the corny? I guess for 15L of "high(er) strength" wort, I'd need to make sure that the yeast is healthy and within its alcohol tolerance. I have a few different types of dry yeast so I can pitch a full packet or make a starter. After ferment, can I just bung, say, 4L of boiled and cooled water into the corny? Or am I looking at this too simplistically? Please advise.
3. Any other suggestions, pointers, kit-101 hacks
I appreciate your time and advice
Thank you
