Mizuno, eh? Nice. The Asics have made a steady incline in price as well. I was getting them for $90 sometimes less. It looks like both brands have had similar increases. It might be as simple as runners will pay almost any price for proper shoes.
Asics Nimbus have a really good shoe for larger runners. When I pile up the miles, it wears them out.

I'm a skinny minny but have a duff right leg (from birth, made worse by years and years of driving high miles) so need decent stability trainers as I also over pronate. I'm thinking of trying New Balance next, as they don't seem to have rocketed in price as much over here.

I'm pretty much the same way. I'm not religious but it's called Christmas. It just is. It's a tradition. We had a stint of "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" from every worker in every public place we went. I objected and would say "Merry Christmas" anyway.
I get "Have a blessed day" all the time. I don't say I'm offended; I just say thank you. They're being kind, it makes them feel good, I suppose, and I don't mind being included in other's religious practices. I'm definitely not offended. There's a decent Jewish population here and a sizeable African American population and others. I just roll with it.

Good running shoes cost 109 pounds and they only last 4-5 months. I tried cheap (half the price) and I swear my knees started hurting after 40 yards.
Running shoes are getting more expensive. I wear brooks adrenaline. 100 pounds if your lucky

Cycling shoes are the same. A half decent entry level pair will cost about £80 new. However I haven't bought a new pair for years (I normally like Specialized MTB body geometry sports). But I discoverd a long time ago you can buy them on Ebay virtually new for half the price. I suspect that some people try clipless out, find they cant get on with it/freaks em out having their feet attached to the pedals, then sell the shoes virtually unused

Went out shopping with Mrs Clint the other day and it's all happy gifting this, gifting season the other...and it's on the ads...what's this...the return of Oliver bloody Cromwell and his ban on Christmas?
More pc ***** I won't be participating in!!
Spot on Clint and where does this stupid word "gifting" come from? Surely it's "giving"! I shan't be participating in any of that cräp either but I shall be celebrating Yule. Here's the intro from Wikipedia:

Yule or Yuletide is a festival historically observed by the Germanic peoples. Scholars have connected the original celebrations of Yule to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin, and the pagan Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht. Wikipedia
Date: Sun, Dec 22, 2019 – Thu, Jan 2, 2020
Ends: Eleven days after the Winter solstice

Much more up my street.
And another thing: go to any supermarket and try and but cards, wrapping paper or tree decorations, etc, etc that are not made in China. But China has banned the celebration of Christmas as damaging to their culture. What hypocrisy.

I get through a pair of steel toecapped "work" boots in 6-9 months.Just by walking in the Scottish highlands.

They just end up splitting apart,They dont actually "wear out"

Running and homebrew is not a great marriage
" The only time I run is when the laxative starts working", Rodney Dangerfield.

Its really interesting how in sales (and politics) a con will work over and over again.!
All it seems that is required is that the trick is given a short "rest" and then off we go once more.

Do you have a weekly mileage you do?
Mine is 16-25. Depending on if someone's a runner or not, it either seems like a lot or not enough.
Edit: where I run is not very scenic but it is grid-like and easy to keep track of distance...and it's very flat.
Ha, ha, no. We live on a sheep farm and I occasionally have to run after the little bu**ers when they make a break for freedom...
It always amuses us when we're up on the mountain behind us in wellies, shorts and a T-shirt and all these ramblers go past in their proper hiking boots, full waterproofs and 50 Lb backpacks.
