So what do you people on the forum think of Ghosts ? anybody seen any or have any stories or no of any spooky thinks happenind

A lot of my home brew mysteriouly disappears of an evening. I'm not saying we're definitely haunted, but it' AN explanation...

Not ghosts but I saw an unexplained object in the sky once. I was stone cold sober and it scared the living daylights out of me.

A good family friend (very rational and trustworthy person) used to work for the National Trust in a castle in Scotland. One evening she was looking for someone and was in a hurry & had to make her way through the great hall, in which a period themed party was taking place (as it was occasionally used for). It wasn't until later that night she realised that no such party had been taking place that evening...

This tends to happen to me quite a lot, perhaps some kind of beer poltergeist is in our midst!

I have felt a 'presence' didnt see anything but I went to a school that was in a couple of historic houses and one night we were late leaving after rehersing a play and messing about in the attic. We all had the same sensation of someone else in the room, went cold and hairs felt like they stood on end. I tell you we ran all the way to the bus stop. It was only when we caught our breath and thought about where we were that we realised the attic we were in was where a maid was supposed to have committed suicide in the 1880s

Oh and Im blaiming my 'levitating' stoppers and high level of evaporation on a wine loving 'spirit' :D

An old Aunt of mine (now very late) used to live in a very old cottage (long since demolished) and she was certain she had a ghost whom she called Annie. I really can't remember anything of Annie's antics (as I was only knee-high to a grasshopper) but her room always seemed particularly cold and no pets would ever enter it.

Expanding the topic: Death - “game over” or “move on to the next level”?

I'm in constant contact with the spirit world, mainly highland malts.

Saying that ghosts exist is quite an extraordinary claim, and I believe that an extraordinary claim requires extraordinary proof - and since there is NO PROOF that ghosts exist - just stories and superstition - I'm more than content to say they simply don't exist :thumb:

I don't believe in ghosts, the brain is more than capable of creating images in your mind.

If you are good in this life, you go to heaven.
If not, you get another go.
Hows that for twisted religeon?

A few years ago the wife's uncle said he was out walking his dogs off the beaten track on farmland about 5 miles from where I live where he said there was an image of 2 Roman type soldiers on horseback with full armoury on chatting to each other then they disappeared .........??
Her uncle is 60+ and the type of person who doesn't pull your leg or tell "porky pies".

He said it was like they were lost in another dimension for a short while !!

My mum and dad used to own a pub on the outskirts of Barnsley. I used to look after it when they went on holiday.

Both myself and my dad could sense a 'presence' in the cellar.
I've also seen a couple of glasses fly off the shelf......not topple and fall.
Also, numerous times I heard internal doors open and close....shouted to see who was there and then gone to check after getting no response to find absolutely nobody. The lay out of the pub was such that to get in or out you had to pass the bar, so if someone had come in or out then I would've seen them.

A pair of awful curtains once went missing from the ladies too; but I doubt that was a ghost :)

Twas a strange place indeed at times

I have had a few strange things happen, not that I am saying I believe or don't believe in these things... But I do lean towards the don't.

Someone told me about a known old "haunted church" in our area once and mentioned when she last went she had bad luck and she would never go back, I wanted to see this for myself so she drove me down during the day and we had a look, I then asked to go there at night to see if the mind played any tricks. Walked around it and I had a peak through one of the windows and in the dark thought I could see a robed figure moving and fading away, walked around to one of the doors and put my ear to it and heard all sorts of knocking and banging and she heard it too and quickly decided we should go, I put all this down to my mind creating things. She was convinced that there was something going on as she said she had seen robes figures walking along the gravesite one night and disappearing into a stream. Anyway I thought nothing of this and said we should go back, she said no never again due to all this bs luck she was meant to of had. I said ok I will go on my own late one night just to prove that nothin would happen, I think it was around midnight started the bike up and rode up there by myself, went through all the country road up the hill where the church was, literally got to the top and all the electric and engine died... I quickly decided to head back, bit odd I know.

Another time when I was quite a bit younger my dad came into my room and rushed me out into the garage late at night and said quick come and listen to this, went to the garage with him, heard nothing, so said I was going he said no wait a bit, and then a loud heartbeating noise appeared from nowhere, I said that's you doing that and he said no it aint, and it continued to do it while he was talking, and it felt like there was something else there. Not much I know, but still odd.

Again when I was younger we were going to Ireland for a week, my dad had replaced some of the lightbulbs as they kept blowing for some reason. Went on holiday, house 100% Empty, when we got back every lightbulb in the hall was smashed on the floor, I thought ok maybe they some how fell, but these were the kind of lights that screw to the wall with an upright fitting... Can't really explain how they unscrewed themselves and ended up on the floor.

When I was still at secondary school I went to a friends house one night and we got onto this subject, I told him I didn't really believe in ghosts spirits etc and he said he did as his father had died when he was younger and he thought he was still with him, didnt want to say too much incase I upset him, but we wen upstairs to his older brothers room and started talking about it, he said yep all sorts of things have happened that I can't explain. He mentioned his dad and just as he said it something that was screwed to the wall fell off on the floor in front of me.

I know all these things will have some explanation, but it's all very Odd!

Some years ago I used to walk into work when on earlies on a short cut through some waste ground where there was no lighting. Black as the ace of spades, and I tripped up a good few times. The route went past a cemetery and I noticed that there seemed to be lights twinkling on and off there. After a couple of times of this when I had felt a wee bit uncomfortable I thought wtf and went to investigate. It turned out to be reflections from the lights at the port about a mile away shining from the marble headstones as I moved along. I have my doubts about ghosts, but then I have never met one.
