I was just out walking the dog and a woman was filling bottles from the fountain in our village. I offered her my empty 5l bottles from my last brew and enquired what she did with the water, as she had an entire boot full of bottles. She said they drink it as it's better and has not got as many chemicals in it as tap water.

Now I'm not convinced. There's quite a bit of farm land round here and I have no idea what the surface water goes through before it bubbles up from the spring. So phosphates etc might be a bit high. The stream water is clear and there's plenty of plants and little critters in it, so I'm curious about getting a sample analysed to see how suitable it might be for brewing. Would be a cheap source.

Any suggestions as to where to get it analysed for all the relevant ions and to see if it has any nasties? Or perhaps there's a site that lists drinking suitability for fountains?
