I'm about to start brewing and my wife isnt keen on me taking up the dining room with my brew bucket so am having to make space in the garage, trouble is the garage is quite cluttered and a little dusty! is this gonna be an issue and do I need to clean the whole garage to make it suitable?

I'd try and remove the worst of it (just to save it falling into the brew) but the area doesn't need to be clinically sanitary. Your equipment (and correspondingly, any surfaces they are put on if they are coming into contact with the beer) ought to be though. A simple thing like a wipeable PVC tablecloth or similar over a workbench will make a big difference.

I was planning on putting everything into the brew bucket then putting the lid on with a bubbler airlock and then moving it to the garage for fermentation!

I'm in the same boat.. Thankfully I have a nice cubby hole in the kitchen for fermenting.. Biggest problem I have found is the temp in my garage is all over the place. Brew fridges are the way forward I intend to go to the local heart foundation furniture place.. Pick one up for £30 and convert it.

Garage brewing is the best !

Be ruthless and throw 80% of the **** out...I did well actually 95% of it ha haa that was fun.
I now brew with 3 100 litre pots and have the room to do the beer making itself, fermenting and storage

and we aint missed anything thats been thrown out !

pleasure to be in the brewery these days...

with the door open ( weather permitting ) theres no steam to worry about.

Just be careful when you clean the garage brewery - my wife caught me hoovering mine the other day and that landed me in trouble as she's never seen me hoovering in the house.

My missus is out tonight so have plans to Hoover the garage once she is out of sight ready for Sundays social triple brew day!
