Checked my turbo ciders this morning, and, to my surprise, found a little fruit fly floating in the top of one. Absolutely no idea how he got in, as the demijohn is firmly under airlock. Half considering the fact that he was already in the store bought juice!
I've managed to fish him out, but I'm concerned that he may have infected the batch. It's about 8 days old, fermenting nicely. Anything I could do to prevent potential spoilage, or do I have to just ride it out and see what happens?

One of the little feckers got into my bucket when I turned to get my drill, I was concerned my wine would be contaminated but it was fine.

Cheers. Hopefully that will be the case with mine too - nothing worse than having to pour away a brew!

I wouldn't worry about it. I dread to think how many end up in with the apples when we make real cider! Just try not to think about it :D

'fivegoldstarts' have you seen the price of cider vinegar that all these 'arty farty' chefs are on about!!!
You're sitting on a potential goldmine!
