I was just wondering with the froth that builds up on top of the wort when waiting on it boiling ,should you scoop it away or just leave it be? cheers 🥃

I scoop all of that off and since I began doing so, am fairly sure I get clearer beer.

I skim it off too but some stir it in saying it puts proteins in the wort?

Another for stir in. Didn't think it would go away but it does eventually.

Breweries don't skim off, nor do they stir in, but it does end up in the finished beer so I don't see the use in skimming it off.

I might stir it in next lager I make just to see. My lagers are always pretty clear these days so I guess it would be a fair point of experimentation to see if lends or takes anything away

I never stirred or removed before I watched DH’s blogs and to be honest I don’t think either is necessary.

I don't think it makes any difference I just think it helps with boil overs. If you stir it in it will drop out when you protofloc etc anyway so personal choice me thinks

If I have a brew with low levels of leaf hops I skim it off as otherwise the hot break gunge blocks up the filter.
On the other hand if the brew has plenty of hops I leave it alone as the hops stop the gunk from blocking the filter.
I have a suspicion that skimming results in poorer head retention, though I wouldn't swear to it.
