I drilled through the side, it s a fringe, all the mechanics (compressor etc) are at the back, the electronics on the top the rest is insulation, why would there be pipes in the walls, that is not how fridges work? the cold radiator is obviously inside the fridge.

I drilled mine at the side, with a cable gland for sealing. As you said, the evaporator is at the rear, not the side.

I got my fridge (Beko) from eBay for £12. It was only a few miles from my home and luckily, I managed to get it into the car (just!).

Bought a tube heater (also from eBay) for around £10 and managed to get the cable from the tube heater and the wire to the Inkbird probe through the drain hole at the rear of the fridge so no need for any drilling.

It’s all working perfectly - and for very little outlay.

Most fridges have a "Cold Wall" at the back that may be removed easily to see the evaporation coils (so called as this is where the liquid refrigerant turns to a gas and in so doing gets cold). From there usually both pipes go through a grommet to the outside condenser coils, then back to the compressor. If you suss out where all the pipes go you should be safe drilling holes. The only problem you can get is moisture getting into the insulation. Just use grommets and sleeving to prevent cable damage.

Occasionally there will be other sensors in there and other wiring, but most of the time you should be ok.

I would put the heater on a board too.

What did you do with the fridge thermostat wiring assuming you got a stc controller to switch eh heater and the fridge on. Rip it out completely> If you do that will the fridge actually cool down?
