My mate is travelling back to Lowestoft at the weekend so maybe able to pick it up for me on his way back.

Often it's the thermostat that needs replacing. On this occasion, using an STC1000 is a relatively trivial procedure, with the added benefit of a temperature display and cooling to sub zero temperatures with the use of glycol.

Just dip the temperature probe into the water-bath.

I use such a 'poor man's glycol chiller' for cooling my fermenter.
