Folding colander false bottom?

Hi all,

Had a trip ti Ikea yesterday and pick one or these up

Would it be any good as a false bottom for my boiler?

I would say about 2mm

I've got one of those. It's for steam cooking veg, you put it inside a pot of water. I think it would work pretty well but it's not that wide. Might need a slit silicone tube or something around the edge to stop little bits of husk seeping underneath.

I'd give it a try could be great like t0m said though make sure its sealed all the way round

It's about 11" in diameter when opened up but has curved edges so think thae silicone hose idea would be a good one.

Just had another look at mine and where each flappy bit attaches there is a rectangular slot that is slightly larger than you'd want. Those might need stopping up. Other than that it looks great, the holes are a good size and there is even a nice pilot hole in the middle. I don't have anything I could try it out on but it looks worth a go. And its only 6 quid.
