put on a canadian blonde coopers kit last night, the fv i was using didnt have a hole for an airlock so just left 2 sections of the lid unclicked, checked it this morning and all was fine then checked it when i got home from work and there is a monster foam right to the top of the lid and a bit has spewed out over the side, its not dripping down the bucket quit yet. i put a brewbelt on it last night and it was sitting about 26 degrees, would you recommend to take it off and let it sit around 21-22( normal temp in my room) or leave it at 26oC?
whats the deal with his foam will it eventually reduce? do i just leave it or is it best to scoop it out?

ta mark ( this is my 4th kit and first time ive ever had a foaming like this)

Certainly cool it down 26 is a little on the high side.
The foaming is just happy yeast it will dye down after 24hrs

Just put the Fv in a bin bag to catch the spills :thumb:
see page 2 of here for a tru foam monster! It had 20ltr of headspace in the Fv but still left itself all over the floor!

26C is bit on the hot side. You really don't want to be putting on a heatbelt and leaving it to fate.

If you are in this homebrew game for the long term then you might want to think about some sort of temperature control. I use a TC-10 PID to drive a heatbelt. It means I can leave it in my garage, put on the heatbelt, set my preferred temperature, chuck in the probe and wrap it all up in a sleeping bag. It a wee bit of an investment but really is worth it. :thumb:
